dental work

DH went in this morning for some emergency dental work, that he has put off for over a year (or longer.) Things are worse than expected, so he will be there a good portion of the day, and it will cost a pretty penny today (not to mention in the future to finish the work.) It also means that he had to turn down a call for today (after there were NO calls available yesterday.)

I'm saying a prayer to St. Appolonia today (pictured left) that it won't hurt too much and that he'll recover easily. My dental work last year was horrendous, and even though I know I need more, it'll have to wait.

ETA: His dental work went okay and he's headed home with 3 prescriptions to deal with infection and pain. I removed some of this post, as I decided it was just too much to have out on the internet, and worried that I wasn't being grateful for what we DO have.

Having worked for a dentist, and oral surgeon, and doctors, I know from experience that they will accept monthly payments - and DO take regular payments from the same people for years. I would suggest that you both get your work done after talking to the dentist him/herself and/or the business manager.

As for going back to work - if it has to be, just don't think of anything as permanent - neither going back to work - nor your husband's employment being on a lull.

    Life goes up and down.

My prayers for you and your family are going UP though!

    God bless you all.

  2. Thank you, Alexa. I can remember years ago paying off dental work on a monthly plan - but unfortunately the dentists in this area won't carry the debt. They do offer a credit plan through a credit card company, but we weren't approved the couple times we applied last year. They won't even start the work until payment is in hand.

I know things will cycle back in a positive way. It's just hard right now being at (or near) the bottom of that cycle.

Melanie, i can't think of many things worse than spending half a day in the dentists chair, your husband has my sympathy. I have awful dental problems and I need to get in to see the dentist soon, but I know that I can get the treatment for free due to living in such a low income bracket (no fancy work, no bridgework or anything fancy, put cavity filling and extraction is free for me). I really feel for you that dental treatment is so costly for you.

  4. I am so sorry. :( :( I hope he is feeling OK [or at least that his pain is being managed by the meds].

I so relate to being buried under medical bills.

I hope things get better very soon. You are in my prayers!
