Lily on the Fly?

Has anybody used the meal planning resource from Lily on the Fly? From the website, it looks interesting, but there aren't any pictures of the actual cards that are big enough for me to fully understand what's there. Are the blanks areas where you write in your own breakfast/lunch plans? Are you able to plan a true week's menus (which to me, means breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks)

I'm always struggling with meal planning, and love things that might make it easier . . . but I can't tell from the website if this would help or not?

I use a chart that I made in MSWord now with boxes for each meal and each day that I just write in. I usually write a grocery list on the back of the meal plan for things that I don't have in the kitchen for preparation. This probably works as good as anything else, except that I still have to come up with every meal.

  1. I heard a neat idea once. Buy a blank calendar and write down your meals as planned or as they happen. Keep the calendar. Then use that as your menu plan for the following year. The person that recommended this also suggested making sure you try new dishes frequently so it doesn't get monotonous.

  2. I started using Lily on the Fly about three or four weeks ago. First let me tell you I asked my husband which one was his favorite and he told me his has not had a bad one yet so he can't answer that. So here is how I use it. Once a week, normally Saturday or Sunday. I plan the next week's meals. Then I make my list using the ingradients on the back of the cards. I only use it for dinners on the weekdays because I work full time however you could use this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are 7 slots in the magnetic holder so if you used it for all three meals a day you would have to load yours more often than I have to. So far the longest meal to prepare was cornish game hens and it took about 1 and a half hours, most was cooking time. I have Slow Cooker Chicken Burritos in the crock pot right now. I HIGHLY receommend this prodcut to everyone who wants a quick, easy mealtime. My 4-year even eats the meals! Most of the meals only take 15-20. If you decide to purchase let me know what you think! You can also check out my blog. I blogged about Lily several times these last 4 weeks. One last thing, they have great sides dished too, I am boring and do the same thing over and over. LOVE the Twice Microwaved Potatoes!
