Apple Cake

I know it's fall, because the Rome apples are in the store and it's time for my yummmmy apple cake!

I posted the recipe over at Prevention last year, and even though they shut down that program, all the posts are still there.  It truly is a delicious cake and I have one in the oven right now!

If you're looking for a nice autumn dessert (or breakfast), check it out!  Let me know if you try it and what you think.

All summer, we have zucchini carrot cake. Now that we are done with zucchini and on to apple season, I'll definitely give this a try. I have a field station workday this weekend and I wanted to bring a dessert. I'll probably try it with whole wheat pastry flour. I'll let you know how it goes.

  2. I will definitely check it out. A friend used to make an awesome Apple bread. She shared the recipe with me and I tried making it four different times and never could get it to turn out. Generally I am an awesome baker. I am not sure he she sabotaged me w/the recipe or what. LOL

Hey--I made two of these this weekend. One for home and one for the field station. Whole wheat pastry flour worked fine, but gave the cake a bit more rustic texture. Also had to turn down the oven part way through since the slightly darker flour seems to go faster. Also used full fat cream cheese because I just don't do fat free. Many compliments. At one point Blake McN. came up to me and said they were talking about me in the kitchen and was the rumor true that I had made that cake. I said yes and that I had gotten the recipe from you. Then I asked him if remembered you. He said yes and that you were "quite a firecracker" and asked where you were now and how you were doing.

    Thanks for an awesome recipe.
