Heifer International Fundraiser Totals

My boys rocked their fundraiser for Heifer International!  In 6 weeks, they read a total of 6,579 pages!!

Last time we checked in, Colin had read 15 books totaling 2,151 pages.  He added 18 books and 2,731 pages for a grand total of 4,882 pages and 33 books!!   He read more Hardy Boys, some Roald Dahl, and a couple Warriors novels.

Nate had read 6 books, totaling 687 pages.  He added 8 book and 1010 pages for a grand total of:  1,697 pages and 14 books in the last 6 weeks!!  Nate read about cowboys, lots of Calvin & Hobbes, some Spiderman and other superhero books, more jokes books and a couple graphic novels.

We are still gathering donations, but with what we have in hand so far, they met their goals of providing a share of a milk menagerie and a Flock of Hope.  They also have enough to donate a honeybee hive and two shares towards a pig.  We plan on sending in their donation by May 1, and I'll add a post with their final totals after that.

I admit I didn't expect them to read that much, and I wasn't sure how dedicated they would be after a couple weeks.  I was pleasantly surprised to see how they stayed committed and diligently worked toward their goals.  Nate was very proud to share with others how he was helping others with gifts of animals.

Heifer International Fundraising Update

The boys have been diligently reading and keeping careful track of the books they've read towards their goal of raising money for Heifer International.

They've been reading for just over 2 weeks.  Colin has completed 15 books totaling 2,151 pages!  He has read a a variety of Hardy Boys, Geronimo Stilton, Bailey School Kids and Pokemon books. He loves series and is excited to continue reading more in the Hardy Boys series.

Nate has been reading regularly, and has read 6 books so far, totaling 687 pages! He has read Hank the Cowdog, Calvin & Hobbes Lazy Sundays, Pokemon, Jigsaw Jones and Jokes to Tell(which is not only great reading practice -- but also great speech practice as he tells us all the new jokes he is learning!)

There's still time if you'd like to sponsor them to help them reach their goal of $160.00! Contact me directly if you'd like to help them out.

Heifer International Fundraiser

My boys have decided to raise money to donate to Heifer International. Over the next 6 weeks, they will be keeping track of their reading.  They started today (February 21, 2010) and their fundraising ends Easter Sunday.

Nate would like to provide a Flock of Hope for a family, and Colin would like to purchase a share of a Milk Menagerie for a family. If they raise more than their goal, the additional funds will go towards purchasing honeybee hives and shares of a pig.

They have been asking for sponsors for every 50 pages (or one book) that they read and are hoping to raise at least $160.00. Some of their sponsors are paying them based on how much they read, while others have donated a flat donation in exchange for their reading efforts.  They are excited to know that they currently have 7 sponsors helping them reach their goals.

Let me know if you want to help them reach their goals! I'll be posting weekly on their progress. If you want to make a one-time donation, you can use PayPal, or contact me for mailing information.

To close this post, I'd like to share what Alton Brown has to say about Heifer International --
