Disney on Ice's show Treasure Trove, will be in Phoenix from April 11 - 14, 2013.  You know how much we love Disney on Ice, and I am super excited to tell you about this fabulous opportunity to get 50% off the cost of tickets for the Phoenix shows.

On Friday, March 22, 2013 (ONLY), if you bring a new school supply to the US Airways Center, you will be able to purchase tickets at an amazing 50% discount!!  All school supplies collected will be donated to Children First Academy, a local school for homeless children.  The deal begins on March 22 at 12:00PM and ends at 1:30PM.  Tickets are limited to 50 tickets per show, and only 4 tickets per person. Phineas & Ferb Live Show Review

Saturday afternoon found us at the US Airways Center in Phoenix waiting for the Disney Phineas and Ferb Live: The Best LIVE Tour Ever show to begin.

I admit, I didn't know what to expect.  I knew it was a cartoon, and I knew my kids watched and enjoyed it, but I wasn't sure how that was going to translate to a stage show.

I shouldn't have worried!  Feld Entertainment and Disney created another fun, energetic show that was amusing to the entire family.  I loved the way they incorporated animation and live characters, and thought it was especially clever how the characters slid from the animated background onto the stage to become live.

The premise of the show was making the most of the last day of summer, and the musical numbers and scenes with the evil doctor and Perry the Platypus were all fun to watch.  The kids really enjoyed the show, and so did my husband and I.

Disney on Ice: Toy Story Coming to Phoenix!

There's so much excitement surrounding Christmas, I'm not telling the kids yet about Disney on Ice's show that is coming to Phoenix January 18 - 22!  BUT, you can bet when the post-holiday blues hit, they will be thrilled to hear that we'll be attending opening night!

It's hard to believe that the first Toy Story came out in 1995!  My three kids have enjoyed the movies, and when Toy Story 3 was scheduled to come out in the theaters, Bo took the kids to see Toy Story and Toy Story 2 that were running on the big screen in anticipation of Toy Story 3's release.

We have attended a number of Disney on Ice shows over the past few years, and have always had a fantastic time!  It seems that each show is better than the last, but I guess the reality is that they are all so unique and well-done that they are very enjoyable on their own.

I am eager to see how they will transfer Toy Story 3 onto the ice, and I know the kids will be excited.  Tickets went on sale yesterday through Ticketmaster.   Opening night is Wednesday, January 18, 2012.  The show runs through January 22, 2012 at US Airways Center in Phoenix.

Review: Disney on Ice Princess Classics

Last night, we attended the Phoenix performance of Disney on Ice, Princess Classics. The show was full of princesses (of course!) and quite a bit of fun. During the first half of the show, we saw Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Mulan, Snow White and Belle. Pieces of each of their stories were enacted on the ice. My favorite was Ariel -- the costumes of the fish were amazing, and the skaters who performed Ariel and Prince Philip seemed the most athletic and daring!  I also really enjoyed the Seven Dwarfs from Snow White.

After intermission, we enjoyed Cinderella's story. I especially loved the wicked stepsisters. They were hilarious and their pratfalls on skates were definitely the work of pros!  While the princesses were the definite stars of the show, the secondary characters brought quite a bit of fun to each segment.

Another neat thing about this performance was the huge castle at the back of the stage.  They were able to twist the turrets and main building of the castle to create different sets and castles.  It was very unique and well done.

My children enjoyed the show.  Lydia (3yo) loved seeing her princess friends, but she also loved seeing the Beast and the witches.  Nate ( 8yo)  thought the sets were pretty neat and was very interested in how Aladdin's rug flew around the arena and the different props that were used.

Review: Another Fabulous Disney on Ice Show! (Discount Code for Phoenix!)

Last night, we attended the opening night performance for Disney on Ice's Let's Celebrate show in Phoenix. 

It was fabulous!  It seems that each show is better than the last, but they are all so good that it doesn't seem fair to say that it was better.  They are all different, and enjoyable, and so well-done.

There are plenty of laughs, as well as amazing skating. I'm always impressed by the athleticism and professionalism of the skaters who take on the Disney character personas.  Of course, you expect the princesses -- but last night we were also treated to Toy Story characters and the pig character was hilarious and so well done!  The pig had skates on his (her?) hands as well as feet, so he looked just like the character in the movie.

It's hard to choose a favorite part of the show, but I think I loved the sequence with Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice and the brooms.  The brooms were all skaters, in costumes that glowed under black lights and they were great!  Another favorite for me was the Hawaiian summer celebration segment.  Fun music, as well as a ring of fire on the ice!

This show even had fireworks to highlight some of the celebrations!  And, of course, Mickey and Minnie Mouse were there to host the entire show.  Which just reminded me of another favorite -- the depiction of a Japanese celebration to welcome spring with a cherry blossom tree and pink LED fans.

Lydia liked seeing all of her princess friends -- including Snow White who was the only princess we didn't have a chance to meet while at DisneyLand last year.  The princes threw and flipped and spun the princesses with no fear of the skates on their feet!  It was a delight to watch them skate.

We grinned throughout the entire show and had a great time.  The show is in Phoenix until January 23rd, so if you're looking for something to do with the family, head on down to US Airways and take in a fabulous show!  It's obviously kid-friendly, but also entertaining for adults.

Review: Disney Live Mickey's Magic Show

We had a magical afternoon, thanks to Feld Entertainment! I was given tickets to attend Disney Live! Mickey's Magic Show that is playing this weekend at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ.

It was a fantastic show and I feel so lucky that we were able to attend!  There was a mix of Disney magic and traditional illusions by a couple great magicians.

Lydia was thrilled with watching Mickey, Minnie and a variety of princesses sing, dance and perform magic tricks.  (Like the Fairy Godmother changing Cinderella's clothes into a beautiful ball gown.   Or the magician levitating Jasmine off the stage!)

The boys were impressed by the feats of magic by the 2 magicians -- from escaping a locked box to switching places with Donald Duck in a locked cage.

I am impressed by the level of professionalism and artistry that we always enjoy during these shows.  It truly was a magical experience and one that I highly recommend.

I heard from my giveaway winner, and she and her 3 sons had a great time as well!

My only complaint was the number of camera flashes going off throughout the entire show.  An announcement was made at the beginning asking people not to take flash photography, but there were some times during the show that the entire audience was lit up because of the number of camera flashes.  The theater was nicely darkened for the show, and camera flashes were a definite distraction.  I would fully support ushers asking people to stop taking pictures during the show -- and even taking cameras away until after the show if they wouldn't stop.

We still had a great time, though, and I loved the show.  The kids don't know it yet, but we have a trip to Disney planned before the end of the year.  After watching Lydia's delight with the princesses on stage, I can't wait until she meets some up close!

Disney Live in Phoenix!

Review: Disney on Ice 100 Years of Magic

We just got back from the Phoenix show of Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic.  It was wonderful!  Thanks to Feld Entertainment, my family attended opening night and had a wonderful time.  It was very difficult to choose a favorite act.

The athleticism of the performers was exceptional!  The skating was absolutely flawless, and had to be quite the challenge in some of the costumes (especially The Beast!)

Lydia (who turns 3 later this month) was enthralled and engaged the entire 2 hour show. She was thrilled to see the princesses, as well as Mickey, Minnie and the Chipmunks. She laughed and gasped and squealed with delight throughout the show.

My 2 boys (ages 7 & 9) also enjoyed the show.  A few scenes especially appealed to them. There was an act with the Toy Story soldiers that was extremely well-done, and the skater who performed as Woody did an amazing job appearing floppy on the stage, just like a stuffed doll would be.  The skaters also enacted a war scene from Mulan that was executed perfectly.

We had amazing seats (Row 9!) and the time flew by while we all enjoyed the show.  The 100 Years of Magic show includes scenes and stories from beloved Disney characters throughout the years.  It's hard to choose which one I liked the most - but the reenactment of the Small World ranked in the top.

As they show ended, and all the skaters were on the ice, Lydia looked down and said "I love them all!"

Disney on Ice Review

We went to Disney on Ice tonight in Phoenix and had a fantastic time!! We were fortunate enough to be invited by Mom Central and Feld Entertainment, who showed us a wonderful time! Before the event, we had the opportunity to meet other local families who got the word out about the show this year (Geri? You reading? I must have written your blog address down wrong and I have the picture of your boys! Please email me!) and enjoyed a light meal. Two of the characters from the Incredibles came by for pictures, and then we headed to the show (with gift bags for the kids! L is on the floor right now with the program pointing out all the characters to the stuffed Mickey she received.)

The show was incredible!! It was very well done, completely enjoyable and very fun. All 3 of my kids had a great time. L was absolutely enthralled with the music and skating. I wasn't sure how long she would last (she'll be 2 at the end of this month) but she was fascinated the length of the show. C (8yo) and N (almost 7yo) laughed and clapped and had a great time.

The show followed a story of the Incredibles family heading to Disney. I loved how they incorporated rides from the parks into the show, and of course, a villian showed up that they had to conquer. L is always playing light sabers with her brothers, so she was up for the fight when the bad guys were on stage. She kept punching her arms out in order to knock them down (reminiscent of a game she plays with her brothers.) The cast involved the audience throughout the show, which made it even more fun for the kids.

I was impressed by the skills of the skaters, and their obvious athleticism. They put on a top notch performance that was almost non-stop skating.

I had never been to a Disney on Ice show before, but after tonight's experience, I can't wait to go again! It was truly a family-friendly, fun event that everyone enjoyed. I had a great time!

Feld Entertainment is the company that puts on the Disney On Ice, Disney Live, and Ringling Bros & Barnum Bailey circus shows around the country. They have been a family-owned business for three generations, bringing wholesome entertainment to families since the late 1960's. I was interested to learn that in each community they perform, they donate tickets to nonprofit youth organizations -- more than $5.5 million in tickets have been given away since 2001.

Disney on Ice Winner
