2 months tomorrow?

I have so much to say, but when I have a free moment, I can't seem to remember any of it!

L will be 2 months old tomorrow! She's doing great! Her eye contact has improved, she smiles every once in a while, she has settled into a sleep pattern that I can recognize (this week anyway)! She truly does sleep better than my boys did, though. She falls asleep between 9 and 11 most nights and doesn't wake until between 3 and 4. As long as I am diligent about falling asleep with her, I'm doing pretty good! She nurses for about an hour when she wakes, then back asleep until 7.

The boys have 1 more day of VBS and then they're done with their summer camps. I think they had fun at all 3 that they've attended. VBS is pretty chaotic, though -- and I'm glad it's last. N is a little overwhelmed this week, and I would have hated for this to have been his first "away from Mom" experience.

I need to go pick them up from camp right now.

first smile

L gave out her first smile yesterday -- you know, a real one -- not the ones they do in their sleep from birth. You would think I would have been the recipient, but no. Her brother N was the lucky recipient of her first smile and it thrilled him.

I've gotten a few of my own since then, so I know it wasn't a fluke. She's definitely growing into a personality ;)

I want to blog about what a great big brother N is, but she's awake again and in need of sustenance. Hopefully later!

update

We've had a busy week, and everyone is surviving ;)

L's schedule has her waking between 2 and 3AM and staying awake until 6 or 7AM, after going to sleep around 10. While I appreciate the 10 - 2 schedule, I wish she would return to sleep after eating at 2 instead of staying awake and grazing for 4 more hours. Thankfully, DH is able to feed the boys breakfast and they're pretty good about playing together so I can sleep from 7 to 10 with L, otherwise I'd be a complete zombie. I know it'll change again soon, so I'm just waiting it out.

Monday I had my spa visit.

Tuesday my cleaning lady came to help me catch up. She's due with her first in about a month, so I won't be seeing her again. I felt guilty having her come in and clean, but she said she was happy to do it. I'm trying to figure out if I should find different cleaning help, or work harder at doing it myself. Question is still up in the air.

Wednesday my friend and her 1 year old came to visit. (why I had to have my cleaning lady come) We had a very nice visit and her baby is a doll.

Thursday I took L for her 6 week checkup. She weighs 8lb 11oz, which puts her in the 10-25% -- consistent with my boys. Her length and head circumference puts her in the 50%. She's perfectly fine and doesn't have to go back until 4 months. Mid-morning, a friend of Colin's, his mom and younger brother came over for a pool date. Lovely family, and hopefully we'll do more with them as I like her, and her boys.

Today I'm taking the kids for a professional portrait -- L's first. Not sure how it'll go or how L will do -- but I'm taking a "whatever" attitude about it. Even if I just get a nice portrait of the boys I'll be happy.

Nothing on the calendar for tomorrow, and not sure what DH wants to do on Sunday for Father's Day (gee, I should probably ask!)

The boys start zoo camp next week -- and I know there will be much angst as they will have to leave the house around 7AM -- extremely early for both of them. Thankfully, DH will drop them off in the morning and then L&I will pick them up at noon.

I need to figure out some meals, make sure I do laundry, and nurse the babe. Not too bad, really. I also need to go through the pile of mail on the dining room table and deal with the things that need action.

spa visit

For Christmas, DH gave me a gift certificate to a spa for a massage and a facial. It expired this week, so I decided I better use it on Monday when DH was home to watch the kids. I had much angst over leaving L for so long, but pumped some milk and made the appointment for the afternoon when she's usually napping anyway.

I am so glad I went ;) L did fine. And I had a fabulous hot stone massage . . . and remembered how much I loved massages and wondered why it had been years since I so indulged myself! I had never had a facial before, but it was very nice. It was called an organic facial and she used all sorts of natural stuff - like cucumbers and honey and almonds and who knows what else. It smelled yummy and my face was soft and dreamy when she was finished.

It'll probably be years before I go again, but it was a nice treat yesterday.

prayers answered

I won't go into the exact details, but I want to say that God is good!!!!

We have been so immensely blessed in our lives, but a prayer was answered this week that I really thought was impossible. In the large scheme of things, I knew it wasn't all *that* important, but it would have cost us somewhere around $7-8 thousand if this prayer hadn't been answered. $7-8 thousand we don't have, and DH would have had to scramble even harder to earn. Money that we would have owed because of a mistake I made.

but somehow . . . things fell in our favor and it is no longer an issue. I literally burst into tears when DH called to let me know. I am in complete amazement that a way was found to correct it without costing us. AND, the answer came today, so I didn't have to fret over the weekend.

I have been wandering around the house muttering prayers of thanksgiving ;) May we never forget the blessings that have been bestowed on us, and may we ever be thankful for all that we have.
